Herbs in a Bottle aims to be the United Kingdom’s leading supplier of quality herbal medicines. Founded and run by qualified medical herbalists we are a family company based in a rural location near Stamford. There are many reasons why Herbs in a Bottle is a very special company – but it can all be defined in one word: Enthusiasm.

Enthusiasm for herbs and for herbal medicines is the hallmark of everything we do. Talk to any of our staff and you soon realize that this enthusiasm is infectious. We love herbs for their own sake, and we are dedicated to bringing to the world the much-needed benefits of herbal medicine.

Over the years (we were founded in 1993) we have grown from a small band of herbal specialists to probably the largest manufacturer of herbal medicines in the country, and one of the largest in Europe. Although our economies of scale mean we can produce the highest-quality products at very affordable prices, the way our production is structured means we have small teams of artisan workers able to focus on producing small batches of rarer tinctures made from the freshest seasonal herbs.

Right from the start we decided quality was going to be the foundation on which everything else is built. That is why with registered GMP status we have given away quality auditing of our production processes. Even if we wanted to, it is not possible for us to cut corners to produce tinctures in a hurry, or use adulterated herbs, or pass off as organic products that are not organic.Unless you have independent auditing of production you are entirely at the mercy of companies who can tell you anything they like – you have no independent verification that what they are saying is true.

This is especially important as we enter a recession and medicine manufacturers come under pressure to win sales. If a company does not have GMP auditing there will always be the temptation to allow substandard herbs to enter their production line and hope no-one notices. With independently audited registered GMP status this is impossible – and that is why we can GUARANTEE to you that all our medicines are of the highest quality and exactly fit for purpose.

Our products are not the cheapest you can buy, but neither are they the most expensive. They are not the cheapest because we only use herbs that are fit for purpose – ethically sourced, rigorously checked and processed in unhurried and appropriate ways. Our products are not the most expensive because we are large enough to achieve economies of scale which we believe in passing on to you, the practitioner.

We are specialists in the manufacture of herbal medicine, and we remain focused on that production on a continuous basis. But we also realize that we would not exist without a healthy and flourishing network of qualified herbal practitioners.
