From Tuesday 24th August Proline Botanicals is changing its name to Herbs In A Bottle.
We have taken this decision for several reasons, most notably because we have expanded our operations in recent years so that we are now carrying out a variety of disparate activities many of which are not relevant to production of herbal medicines.
To refocus our attention on medical herbalists and their requirements we will be marketing all our Western and TCM ranges under the
Herbs In A Bottle brand name. There will be a short transitional phase as we use up Proline stocks, but very soon you will start to see the
Herbs In A Bottle labeling, and we will have a new catalogue ready for the NIMH Conference later this year.
It goes without saying that you will receive the same high standards of quality products and efficient service.
To celebrate the launch of the new Herbs In A Bottle brand we are giving all practitioners who order during the remainder of August (from 24th) and the whole of September a 5% discount on their orders. To receive this discount please advise Kate or Emma at the time of placing your order.
Do also please remember our emergency dispatch service – order before 12 and we can guarantee delivery the next day (advise Kate or Emma when you place your order).
We look forward to being of service to you.
Exclusive – first ever survey of herbal medicine prices.
Herbs in a Bottle has carried out what is believed to be the first price survey of commercially-manufactured herbal medicines in the United Kingdom.
The survey examined data from six herbal medicine manufacturers (Herbs in a Bottle, MediHerb, Rutland Biodynamics, Herbal Apothecary, Phyto Pharmaceuticals and Avicenna) and calculated the cost of herbs contained within each product.
The findings varied widely – some herbal medicines contained herbs priced in excess of 200% of the herbs in comparable medicines.
Commenting on the survey Herbs in a Bottle Managing Director Tony Carter said:
“We wanted to do this survey as we wanted to get an idea of where Herbs in a Bottle products were positioned in the market. It is an incredibly tedious job to go through all the price lists and calculate the cost of the raw herbs, but the final result has been worth the effort. Once we had finished the project we thought we would put the data in the public domain so that herbalists everywhere can see where their money is going.
“I have to say that I was very surprised at some of the findings. At Herbs in a Bottle we have a very high standard of selection and purchase of herbs, and will often pay a premium to get the best herbs. Therefore I was staggered to find other companies charging such over the top prices.
“I happen to care about herbal medicine and want effective treatments sold at affordable prices. In the long run we all benefit if more people try herbal medicine and find that it works for them. That will only come about when manufacturers offer therapeutically-valid products, operate independently-audited processing standards, and charge a fair price for herbal ingredients.”
